The lessons I’ve learned from running have stuck with me to this day. I thought I was just training to make the soccer team, but instead God was training me to endure and to remain focused and determined to finish the race that is following Jesus. That is my prayer for this design. The Steadfast Running Club provides a community for believers to run alongside one another as we pursue Christ. Following Jesus is not easy, our own fleshly understanding will constantly tell us that we’re not good enough, that we should just give up, that God is not actually faithful and that He is not working things for our good.
But thankfully God’s truth in this verse reminds us that when we surrender our own understanding to Him, that is when our paths become straight and clear, and we can have confidence to run down those paths because we know that the Holy Spirit is with us and that He has us exactly where we are supposed to be.
When I first moved to LA back in 2023 after graduation, I was fully convinced that I would join the church’s young adult ministry. At the time since I was in a post-grad stage of life, there was no part of me that thought I’d end up attending the college group instead. I remember being on a hike with the young adult ministry and during that hike, I met a fellow brother in Christ who expressed to me that he was attending both young adult and college ministries at the time. And I thought to myself, maybe this is something I can try as well. I ended up going to college group that night and a week later I was at their yearly retreat. And then shortly thereafter, I was given the opportunity to serve in youth ministry, another thing that I never planned or expected to participate in.
One small step led to another, and God used each step to straighten my path in a season where I had no idea where to go. Following Jesus requires steps of faith that seem small now, but if we focus on just taking small steps of faith each day, we will be able to look back on our lives one day and see the miles and miles of purpose that those small steps of faith became. By choosing intimacy over efficiency, what small steps of faith might God be pushing you to take?
